Watch Hill Therapy is seeking an experienced, relational, and clinically grounded Associate Clinical Director to support the ongoing development of our trauma specialty group practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned clinician with deep experience treating complex trauma, dissociation, attachment wounds, and relational injuries, and who is passionate about mentoring clinicians and helping cultivate a thoughtful, values-based clinical culture.

Watch Hill Therapy specializes in treating complex PTSD, developmental and relational trauma, dissociative processes and disorders, and the long-term impacts of abuse, neglect, and attachment disruption. Our approach is reflective, relational, trauma-informed, and integrative, emphasizing authenticity, pacing, depth work, and the therapeutic relationship as central to healing.

The Associate Clinical Director will maintain a full-time psychotherapy caseload (22–25 clients & supervisees/week) while serving as a clinical leader within the practice. This individual will act as a key liaison and collaborative partner between ownership and staff, helping ensure strong communication, clinical consistency, operational alignment, and a supportive team culture across the organization.

Because this is a newly developed leadership role, the Associate Clinical Director will have the opportunity to help shape and refine the position over time in collaboration with ownership. We are looking for someone who values open communication, thoughtful collaboration, initiative, and shared problem-solving,  and who is excited to contribute feedback, ideas, and leadership as the role and practice continue to evolve.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Maintain a full-time outpatient psychotherapy caseload (combo of clients & supervisees)

  • Provide high-quality therapy services to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups

  • Work competently with complex trauma, developmental trauma, attachment wounds, dissociation, and related presentations

  • Utilize trauma-informed, relational, psychodynamic, somatic, attachment-focused, and/or integrative approaches appropriate to client needs

  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation, treatment planning, and case management

  • Support clinicians with crisis management, risk assessment, and complex case consultation when needed

  • Coordinate care with outside providers and referral sources as appropriate

Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide ongoing clinical supervision around complex trauma, dissociation, countertransference, attachment dynamics, pacing, and ethical clinical care for up to 4 pre-licensed clinicians in accordance with Illinois licensing requirements

  • Support clinicians in developing strong trauma-informed and relational clinical skills

  • Mentor clinicians in developing reflective capacity, clinical confidence, and sustainable therapeutic practice

  • Assist with onboarding, training, and integration of new clinicians

  • Foster a collaborative, thoughtful, and supportive team culture

  • Serve as a liaison and collaborative partner between ownership and clinical staff to support communication, accountability, problem-solving, and organizational alignment

  • Participate in regular leadership meetings with practice owners regarding clinical operations, team development, practice growth, and strategic planning

  • Function as a key operational and clinical support partner to ownership across day-to-day practice needs

  • Serve as a collaborative thought partner to ownership in helping shape the evolution of the Clinical Director role and broader clinical operations

  • Provide ongoing feedback, insight, and recommendations regarding systems, workflow, clinician support, and practice development

  • Help strengthen communication and alignment between leadership and staff as the practice continues to grow

  • Contribute to the long-term vision, culture, and strategic development of the organization

Program & Practice Development

  • Oversee the development and implementation of outpatient therapy groups and specialty programming

  • Support the continued growth of Watch Hill Therapy as a trauma and dissociation specialty practice

  • Assist in identifying areas for clinical growth, community outreach, and program expansion

  • Collaborate on the development of trainings, consultation offerings, and clinician education initiatives

  • Help maintain high clinical standards and consistency across the practice

  • Review documentation and provide feedback to support quality and compliance

  • Assist in refining clinical systems, workflows, and operational best practices

  • Stay informed on current research and best practices in trauma, dissociation, attachment, and relational psychotherapy

Benefits

  • 55-60% Starting percentage for a full time caseload (22-25 clients a week) commensurate with experience, plus a monthly stipend for administrative and leadership duties

  • Watch Hill will cover a portion of BCBS PPO health insurance premiums after 3 months for therapists who want to utilize insurance.

  • Short term and long term disability for full time employees

  • 401k with match

  • Paid Sick Leave: PSL kicks in at 90 days. You will then have 40 hours a year at $40 per hour and you can use up to four hours per day. PSL can roll over to a max of 80 hours.

  • Paid Time Off: PTO kicks in at 30 days. You will then have 40 hours a year at $40 per hour and you can use up to four hours per day.

  • Weekly supervision for unlicensed Individuals.

  • Consultation and in house training every month for all therapists.

  • Therapists can attend CEU & Trauma Survivor WH workshops for free and learn from outside providers about trauma.

  • Financial support for licensing fees and educational budget for licensed therapists.

  • Consistent referrals are given to help build your practice as well as administrative support for billing, insurance, and intakes.

  • Flexible schedule with virtual and in-person office space available in downtown Chicago, Barrington, and potentially the Northside (Ravenswood area) of Chicago.

  • Marketing budget for attending events, writing blogs, creating social media content, and networking.

  • Our office has many amenities as well such as a gym, locker room for bikes, 7th floor lounge.

About Watch Hill Therapy

Owners of Watch Hill Therapy, Jennifer Rolnick, Psy.D. and Tovah Means, LMFT, wanted to provide a values based, beyond trauma informed, group specialty practice that could meet the actual needs of those looking to heal from complex trauma.

In 2012, Tovah founded Watch Hill Therapy out of a desire to start working with complex trauma survivors. Not wanting to do this work alone, Jennifer and Tovah became co-owners of Watch Hill Therapy in 2018 and have been providing trauma specialty focused care to clients since then. They also began training and mentoring therapists working at the practice, to ensure quality clinical services to trauma survivors.

Now, Jennifer and Tovah also reach the broader Chicago therapist community to support therapists with complex trauma cases through individual and group consultation. In addition, Jennifer and Tovah teach and host workshops through Watch Hill Therapy on complex trauma therapy, somatic treatments, dissociative process and self as therapist issues.
