Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is seeking mental health professionals to join Cougar Care as Staff Counselors. These 10-month positions are an excellent opportunity for clinicians who are passionate about working with college students and want to grow professionally within a collaborative, integrated behavioral health team.
Staff Counselors provide mental health assessment, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, case coordination, consultation, and referrals for SIUE students. Counselors also collaborate with colleagues across Counseling Services, Health Services, Health Promotion, and the broader university community to provide responsive, student-centered care and support student well-being and academic success.
We are looking for clinicians who value collaboration, professional growth, and working with emerging adults. Candidates must have a master's degree in Social Work, Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Art Therapy Counseling, or an equivalent field from an accredited graduate program and must be eligible for professional licensure in the State of Illinois (e.g., LSW, LPC, Licensed Psychologist). Independent clinical licensure in Illinois, such as LCSW or LCPC, is preferred but not required.
The position also offers opportunities to contribute to clinical consultation, outreach, professional development, and the supervision and mentorship of student trainees. Experience or specialized training in crisis intervention, university counseling, substance use, disordered eating, sexual assault, or trauma-informed care is especially valued.
