Turning Point, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive domestic violence services. We are seeking a motivated mental health counselor to join our team and make a difference in the lives of survivors. New master level graduates encouraged to apply.
Position Summary:
The Mental Health Therapist (Bilingual-Spanish) provides trauma-informed mental health services to adults, children, and adolescents impacted by domestic violence. This role involves completing intakes, conducting comprehensive assessments, and creating individualized treatment plans. The therapist provides individual and group therapy, offers in-house on-call crisis services, and maintains accurate client records. Collaborating closely with staff and community providers, the therapist ensures holistic support and integrates cultural considerations into service delivery. Regular self-care and professional development are essential. Additionally, the therapist participates in training, meetings, and program development, and performs other duties as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Complete intakes and conduct comprehensive assessments to understand clients' mental health status, trauma history, and current needs.
· Create and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and client goals.
· Provide individual and group mental health therapy to adults, children and adolescents, addressing trauma, emotional well-being and coping strategies.
· Provide in house on call crisis services for victims of domestic violence as needed.
· Maintain accurate and confidential records of all client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in a timely manner.
· Assist Supervisor in training and supervision of staff, interns, and volunteers as needed.
· Work closely with other staff members, including advocates, and community providers to provide holistic support to clients.
· Incorporate cultural considerations into service planning, delivery, and advocacy.
· Encourage an environment of mutual respect and empowerment for all staff and clients.
· Engage in regular self-care practices and pursue ongoing professional development to maintain personal well-being and stay current with best practices in the field.
Qualifications:
· Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Art Therapy or other human services related field (Required)
· Be a Qualified Mental Health Professional ("QMHP").
· Clinical License preferred: LCPC, LCSW or Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Must be license eligible within two years.
· Bilingual/Spanish required.
· Willing to obtain ICDAV certification within one year of hire.
· Experience working with survivors of domestic violence preferred.
