Located in the state-of-the-art building on the DuPage County Campus in Wheaton, Crisis Services provides 24/7 crisis mental health services to county residents experiencing psychiatric crises or needing support for mental illness symptoms. Opening Soon: The Crisis Recovery Center
The Crisis Recovery Center (CRC) is the critical next step in DuPage County Health Department’s decades-long journey to build the infrastructure needed to support a best-in-class behavioral health system and ensures all DuPage County residents will have “someone to call, someone to respond, and somewhere to go” when experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. The CRC will help residents de-escalate, stabilize, and connect to community resources catered to their individual mental health and substance use treatment needs. The building design and operations will ensure individuals and their families feel welcome, respected, and secure throughout every step of their care. The CRC serves as an alternative to hospital emergency departments and simplifies access to crisis care for all individuals, families, and first responders. Job Details
This is a full-time position working Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, and alternate Thursdays 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM. This position includes weekend shifts and will also work some holidays. The hiring range for this position is $68,620 to $80,620, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
- Performs nursing and case management activities in Crisis Residential Program
- Completes nurse-to-nurse consultations for Crisis Residential referrals
- Reviews relevant medical documentation (lab results, hospital discharge paperwork)
- Conducts nursing assessments for those admitted to Crisis Residential
- Assists in decision making related to client admissions & continued stays at Crisis Residential
- Provides nursing support to prescribers
- Facilitates groups related to medications & medical issues
- Assists clients in medication self-administration
- Ensure accurate medication lists & observation records
- Assists clinical staff with integrated assessment & treatment plan process
- Participates in team meetings, shift change meetings, etc. to ensure continuity of care for clients across shifts.
- Consults with staff, clients & their families regarding medical & medication issues
- Completes work in a manner to support site compliance with medication storage & disposal
- Refers clients to appropriate resources as needed
- Participates in emergency response activities as assign
- Good knowledge of practices and principles of nursing and psychiatric nursing; good knowledge of relevant social and economic factors influencing client behavior; good knowledge of local health resources; good knowledge of medical records preparation and maintenance techniques.
Requirements
Working skill in instructing others in treatments and practices; working skill in making group presentations in health education; working skill in maintaining medical documentation; working skill in delegating and assigning work to others; working skill in analyzing client needs; working skill in verbal and written communication; working skill in developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships with internal and external customers; working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Completion of either an associate’s degree in nursing or bachelor’s degree in nursing
- Two years of nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training, and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Illinois, bachelor's degree in nursing, and previous crisis psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
